El Parque del Buen Retiro *

A lush retreat from the bustle of Madrid.
This expansive public park used to be the center of life for the Spanish royal court during the height of Spain's imperial times. Today its ornate French-style guardens, flower lined avenues and lake are a favorite spot for people watching, picnics and leisurely strolls.

This is a treasure for the people of madrid, just a stunningly beautiful park, on our visit, a weekend day, there were lots of people laying about sunning, strolling with their dogs, well laid out, beautiful from every turn. Best reached by the Atocha metro stop from souther end or Retiro from Northern end.
